This is only the second book I have read by this author as I always assumed his books would be quite gory (not sure where I got that idea from) but in actual fact they are laugh out loud funny. The Black Marble revolves around a drunk detective, Valnikov, his new partner's efforts to get him sacked and his investigation into a dognapping.
